These patties look very tasty and could be a good way of “hiding” a few vegies from the kids.

GOUGERES
I know the Christmas/New Year entertaining season is over now, but I think these little snacks might come in handy when you get the drinks out next. I like the fact that you can make them, freeze the mixture and then bake when needed.
PALMIERS
I’ve always thought Palmiers seem a bit plain by themselves, but I like the idea in this recipe of sandwiching them together with whipped cream for a dessert. They’d be lovely with some fresh berries.
THREE NUT PIE
This combination of pecans, macadamias and almonds with brown sugar and corn syrup makes a lovely sweet and nutty dessert, which you can serve either warm or cold.
LEMON TART
I’ll admit that sometimes when I don’t have a lot of time to spare I buy a lemon tart from my local cake shop, but this old recipe of Mum’s reminds me that making your own isn’t all that hard. The advantage of making it yourself is that you can give it a bit more lemon flavour, bought ones are usually a bit sweeter and don’t have that real lemon kick.
BLUE CHEESE PUFFS
While blue cheese isn’t to everyone’s taste, when you combine it with puff pastry the resulting snack does go very well with pre dinner drinks or as a party nibble.
TOMATO HERB CHICKEN
Over the summer we all get a little tired of barbecued chicken, this oven cooked tomato herb chicken makes a change and when served with a salad is still light and summery.
ITALIAN CROSTOLI FRITTERS
It always surprises me with these recipes of Mum’s, I think that a dish is new and modern and then I find a handwritten or printed recipe from years back. While Italians have been eating crostoli for generations when Mum cut this recipe out back in 1994 it must have seemed quite new to her.
FROZEN CHOCOLATE CHRISTMAS PUDDING
This is another version of a Frozen Christmas Pudding. With this one you add the melted chocolate to the mix instead of coating the pudding with chocolate and so end up with chocolate ice cream. That sounds good as does the idea of serving it in brandy baskets.
CHICKEN NUGGETS
These Chicken Nuggets might take a bit more effort to make, but I’m pretty sure that they’d have a lot more flavour than the bought ones. They be could for the kids, but you could also make smaller ones to serve as finger food at a party.
