This is a fairly basic biscuit recipe, but the crushed nuts, sugar and cinnamon coating is what makes them different. If you didn’t want to made them as logs, they’d also be good rolled out and cut into biscuit shapes.

PRINCESS FINGERS
I do find some unusual recipes as I go through all the cuttings. This one not only has an unusual name it also has an unusual topping. The base is fairly standard, but the meringue topping with coconut, orange rind and rice bubbles is quite different. I think it would work…….
SESAME CHEESE BISCUITS
One of our good friends always makes a batch of cheese biscuits to serve with drinks whenever we go there for dinner. I confess I’ve copied the idea, but make this version with sesame seeds instead – both taste great.
CHOC RAISIN COOKIES
It looks like Mum must have chopped this recipe off the back of a packet of Sunbeam raisins. It’s not a particularly unusual recipe but the combination of chocolate and raisins always works – the cinnamon is an extra touch.
CARROT CAKE
I’m yet to find a better Carrot Cake recipe than this one (including in Mum’s collection). I’ve been making it for years. It’s quick and easy to make, lovely and moist, but the best bit is the icing, it’s terrific. To be honest I think I mainly make it for the icing………….
DRIED FRUIT CANNONBALLS – Gluten Free
Cannonballs – isn’t that a great name for these dried fruit treats. Unsurprisingly the recipes come from an old Sunbeam Foods recipe sheet. They’re not all that different, but the good thing is that they’re both gluten free.
QUICK COCONUT SLICE
I don’t make as many biscuits and slices now as I did when my children were growing up. I have more time than I did back then, but the idea of a quick slice still has a lot of appeal and the combination of coconut and lemon is always a winner.
AFTER DINNER MINTS
Homemade dinner mints, very 70s. Don’t think they’d be a patch on the bought chocolate ones, but maybe if you coat these with a layer of chocolate instead of the coconut they’d been worth doing.
ROCKY ROAD SLICE – No Bake
This is another easy slice to make and is great because it’s no bake and can be kept in the fridge until you need it.
EASY CHOCOLATE BROWNIES
There’s lots of Brownie recipes available and I’ve already posted some myself, but I like this one as it needs no beating and it’s made in just one bowl. That means that by the time the kids lick the bowl and spoon there’s hardly anything to clean up.
