This onion pie is pretty easy to make, except perhaps for the onion chopping, and would be great hot or cold for lunch or dinner.

Looking for something to make for afternoon tea while you’re stuck at home? Why not try this. You don’t have to make it quite as fancy if you don’t want to, it would be just as good without the top cut into 8 wedges and probably a lot easier to eat.
CHICKEN COBBLER
The cheesy scone topping on this chicken casserole makes this a hearty and inexpensive meal. It comes from a New Idea supplement entitled ‘Tasty Meals on a Budget’, published in 1974 and shows weights in metric and the old imperial measurement. Although metric conversion happened in 1966 it took sometime for home cooks to become confident of using the new system.
BEEF STROGANOFF POTATO PIES
I guess this is basically a fancy version of meat and potatoes, but what I like about it is that you can make it into small pies and freeze what you don’t immediately need or make it into a large pie for the whole family to share. Either way it makes a tasty meal.
MICROWAVE BANANA PUDDING
As the autumn air starts to turn cooler and we’re in self isolation at home, what better way to warm and cheer ourselves up than a hot banana pudding – even if it means we have to join weight watchers when we finally emerge……….. Stay well everyone.

I suspect it’s the peppermint crisps, the crunchie bars or whatever chocolate treat you feel like adding that will be the main appeal of this ice cream for the kids. Even so it’s something they can make themselves, although I doubt all 3 bars will make it into the mix.
FRITTER CRITTERS…..Cheesy Corn Fritters
Varying lunches at home each day instead of having the usual packed lunch at school or work is certainly a challenge. These corn fritters are something the kids can make and you can all enjoy together.

Another one for the kids to make and the whole family to enjoy. Yummy jam tarts. You could use bought shortcrust pastry, but getting the kids to make their own, while a bit messy, would be worthwhile and of course licking the jam spoons would be their reward.

Inspired by my 9 year old granddaughter, who is cooking up a storm while isolated at home, this week I looked for recipes that kids would enjoy cooking. This one needs some peeling, some grating and some rolling – all easy things to do and it includes vegemite, so I thought that might be an added bonus……
