Reading this recipe has made me drool for a slice of it covered in thick cream. Although I guess even if I started to make it now it would be a few hours before it would be ready. Worth the wait though……

This recipe was so delicious! The recipes from the 40s and 50s are really helping me to keep my grocery budget down whilst still feeding my family well when the cost of living is high at the moment. I love reading about your life as a child and the routines and traditions from your family. I would love a post that goes into more depth about how your mum fed you and your brothers when you were little etc and the routines you had as a wife and homemaker as well. For example you said you made a batch of biscuits each week when your children were in school. I’d love to hear more about those times
